On Monday, April 28, 2025 at 6:35 p.m., the Cottage Grove Police Department (CGPD) responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash in the 1300 block of Landmark Drive in the Village of Cottage Grove. Initial reports indicated the crash resulted in multiple individuals being injured at the scene, along with a canine. Three individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Subsequently, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two individuals remain in the hospital receiving care for their injuries.
The tragic event saddens us, and we have launched a full investigation into the crash. We understand the community has questions, and while we can confirm that speed was a factor in the incident, the precise actions and motivations of an individual involved are the subject of an ongoing investigation in partnership with the Dane County District Attorney’s Office. Further information will be released at a future date and time.
