[ARCHIVED] Water Update

Glass of Drinking Water

This week the Village Water Utility was testing the operation of the newly installed PRV (pressure-regulating valve system) that regulates pressure between the high and low pressure zones of the water system. Yesterday, the higher flow rate caused enough of a fluctuation in the system that it stirred the naturally occurring sediments in the pipes causing some residents to see discolored water in their homes. The situation is very similar to when we flush hydrants in the spring and fall. Residents should run their cold water until the water clears up. Utility staff has returned the settings to the typical lower flow rate, and will be monitoring the situation through the week. If you continue to see discolored water or have other concerns, please call the Public Works Department at 839-5813.
