The Village Board approved Ordinance 03-2018 at the May 7, 2018 Village Board of Trustees meeting. Below is the revision to the Village ordinance which will be published on May 12, 2018 in the Wisconsin State Journal.

AMENDING ARTICLE III SECTION
116-5 (B)
OF THE
VILLAGE OF COTTAGE GROVE
MUNICIPAL CODE
The Village Board for
the Village of Cottage Grove, Dane County Wisconsin, does hereby ordain as
follows:
SECTION
I.
A.
CHAPTER 116 of the CODE FOR THE VILLAGE OF
COTTAGE GROVE (CODE), contains various provisions relating to the Keeping of
Animals in the Village.
B.
CHAPTER 116-5 of the CODE specifically deals with the CONTROL OF
ANIMALS.
SECTION II. – REVISIONS
A.
CHAPTER 116-5(A)(5) is hereby created to read:
No
person shall own, harbor or keep any dog, cat or other animal in a domesticated
environment which:
(5) is
allowed to run at large off the owner’s property in violation of Chapter
116-5(B)(1).
B.
CHAPTER 116-5 current Section (B)(1) is repealed
and replaced with the following:
1.
Any dog, cat or other animal outside of the
boundary of the owner’s property shall be controlled by the owner on a leash
not to exceed Ten (10) feet in length.
The owner/handler must have the leash in his/her possession at all
times.
C.
Current paragraphs (1)(2) in Section 116 (B) are
renumbered to (2) and (3) respectively.
SECTION III.
Any person who violates
any provision of this article, shall upon conviction thereof, be subject to a
penalty as provided in Chapter 1, General Provisions, § 1-19 of this CODE.
SECTION IV. - CONFLICT AND SEVERABILITY
SECTIONS 1-10 and 1-11 of the MUNICIPAL CODE OF
THE VILLAGE OF COTTAGE GROVE shall apply to this ordinance.
SECTION V. - EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect upon compliance
with the publication/posting requirements of the Wisconsin Statutes.
