Question: Where do I put my Trash and Recycling Carts?
Answer: Trash and Recycling carts must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day. Carts should be placed at the end of your driveway or on the grass terrace. Carts should not be placed in the street, curb and gutter area, sidewalk, or bike path. Please allow four feet between your cart and other objects (mailboxes, other carts, etc.), and 10 feet from parked cars on the street. Lids on the carts should be closed, as overflowing carts can result in the material spilling into the street and may not be collected.
Proper cart placement is equally as critical during the winter months as it is during the summer months. Keeping the street and curb and gutters free from refuse carts helps Public Works staff snow plow close to the curb, helps eliminate cart damage, helps stormwater reach infrastructure, and allows for efficient street sweeping.
