Cottage Grove Water and Sewer Utility has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to increase water rates. The increase is necessary due to investments in plant since the last water rate case in 2011.
If the request is granted, the increase in water revenues will be implemented in two steps. The increase in Step I is estimated to be $234,216 which will result in an increase of 25 percent over the water utility’s present revenues. The increase in Step II is estimated to be an additional $75,870, an increase of 7 percent over the Step I revenues, and will be implemented when the Gaston Road water main project has been completed and placed into service.
If the request is granted, the water bill for general service and public fire protection service for an average residential customer with a ?-inch or ¾-inch meter who uses 13,000 gallons of water per quarter will increase from $81.77 to $100.57 in Step I, an increase of 23 percent, and then from $100.57 to $106.87 in Step II, an increase of 6 percent.
A telephonic public hearing on the application has been scheduled for Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in the Village Board Room at the Cottage Grove Village Hall, 221 East Cottage Grove Road, Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.
