The Village of Cottage Grove Police Department will be handing out the following notice to all people that receive parking tickets between today and January 30, 2020. The notice explains that they can make a donation to the Cottage Grove Food Pantry in lieu of paying their ticket during this time period. The Village Board approved this program on December 2, 2019. The donations will be collected at the Police Department during normal business hours.
Parking Ticket Recipient PLEASE READ
The Cottage Grove Police Department is working in conjunction with the Cottage Grove Food Pantry, hosted at Bryn Mawr Church in Cottage Grove, to increase donations of non-perishable and non-expired food to the pantry during the holiday season. In lieu of paying the parking ticket you have just received, you can make a donation at the police department of one to five food items. Each donation will be assessed a value of $5 per qualifying food item. If you donate one item, your ticket will be reduced to $20, two items $15, so on and so forth, up to five items at which time your ticket will be voided. For your ticket to be reduced or voided, you will need to make the donation at the Cottage Grove Police Department at 210 Progress Drive between the hours of 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. Please remember to bring the ticket with you and make the donation within 10 days of receiving the ticket. The reduction or voiding of parking tickets will be in effect from December 5, 2019 until January 30, 2020. The food pantry is especially in need of jelly, peanut butter and breakfast items, such as cereal and pancake mix. Handicap and fire lane parking violations are not eligible for this ticket reduction program. If you choose not to make a donation, please follow the directions on the ticket for normal processing of the ticket.
