Three Categories of Bakers: Amateur Kids (ages 13 & under), Amateur Adults, and Professionals *If you receive compensation for your baked goods, you are considered a professional.
We invite you to join us in this fun event full of bakers in a battle of flour, sugar and fondant! Amateurs and professionals enter to compete, bake 10 dozen dessert samples (small pieces) at home, bring your sweets and earn your votes. Not a baker? Be a taste tester! Everyone is invited to try as many scrumptious sweets as you can handle and vote for your top favorites! The winners of each category will win a prize and bragging rights, of course! All proceeds will go to the Snack Pack program through Cottage Grove Optimist Club. The snack pack program seeks to give hunger relief to students who don't always have reliable nutrition over the weekend during school.
Calling All Bakers: Use your imagination to make dazzling, stunning, impressive, and the most unusual cupcakes, cookies or pastries to bake 10 dozen sample sizes at home (i.e. if you bake a cupcake, cut it into 4 pieces) and bring to the battle. No baking is done on site. You're welcome to bring regular sized desserts to sell (should be decorated) for your designated price. Each participate will have their own table to present their creations. This table can be decorated in line with the theme of your entry. Please label all creations that are made for special diets (i.e. gluten free). You're welcome to bake multiple different types of desserts, if you'd like.
Bakers must register by April 12th (limited space available) with a 100% refundable fee of $25 to hold your spot in the Baker's Battle (no show = no refund).
Taste testers just show up and pay cash at the door. $5/person up to $15/family (i.e. if you have 5 family members, cost is $15).
*Looking for sponsorships to defray the cost of materials, beverages and awards for the winners. Will gladly accept $100-$400 sponsorships.*
